Notes On Becoming a Pro DJ and Electronic Music Producer (Dec 2018)
A New Series
My compulsive habit of describe what I’m doing with my life in a public journal (aka blog) is getting close to 20 years old! It’s the most effective form of self-promotion I know, so here you go: a new series of articles to document the history of my career transition from somewhat notable software techie to electronic music producer and touring DJ. I’ll try to publish something in this series at least every six to twelve months, mostly just as a way of keeping track of where my head’s at for posterity.
If you happen to be an aspiring electronic musician dreaming of making it big as a touring DJ, you should get at least some nuggets of wisdom from the series, that’s my hope anyway!
Backstory
First a little bit of history. Many years ago I secured my first summer job in Hackensack, New Jersey, at the age of 14. I was so young that getting hired involved getting written permission from both my school and parents. My employer was Prozy’s Army Navy on Main Street. The pay was minimum wage: a healthy (for that era) $5 per hour.
